The certificate awarding ceremony for the parliamentary internship programme was held on the 13th of October 2023 at the Water’s Edge of Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte. It was organized to award certificates to the dedicated and enthusiastic interns who have successfully completed their 6-month internship program.

The Best Research Paper award was a renowned honour presented to persons who have made substantial research contributions to their profession in a 6-month internship. This award honours researchers who have made major contributions to their discipline and have exhibited excellent pursuit of research during an internship. G. Sarththiga an intern of the University of Jaffna was awarded the presenter of the best research paper (second place) in the parliamentary internship programme for university students in 2023.

The parliamentary internship programme was a golden opportunity for the youth to become empowered and actively engaged in addressing the trust deficit between parliament and youth while safeguarding democracy. This internship programme inspired the students to become future leaders with a high degree of social responsibility.
