Her Excellency Julie J. Chung, the U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, visited the University of Jaffna on October 24, 2024. During her visit, she met with Professor S. Srisatkunarajah, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna; Professor Dr. S. Raguram, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Professor Dr. T. Velnampy, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies; Mrs. A. Rajkumar, Head of the Department of Philosophy; and academic staff from the department. The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential collaboration with the University of Jaffna through the USAID SCORE activity, which has supported the Department of Philosophy in establishing an MHPSS lab and launching an internship program to give final-year students practical experience. Additional support has also been provided to help the University introduce a Master’s Program in Peace and Conflict Resolution for students in the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The discussion proved to be a productive and fruitful event.
