Shri Raakesh Natraj, Consul General of India to Sri Lanka in Jaffna along with Shri Nagarajan Ramaswamy, Consul (CPV & PIE) visited the Media Lab of Media Studies on 05th of September 2023 (Tuesday) and discussed the development of the Department of Media Studies.
The first time a Consul General of India visited the Media Lab with the officials of the Consulate General of India in Jaffna. The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof.S.Raguram explained the functions of the Media Lab of Media Studies and described the facilities and equipment available at the Media Lab.
The Consul General engaged in casual interaction with students and appreciated their productions related to the courses they studied.
The Consul General suggested submitting a formal proposal from the Department of Media Studies for inviting resource persons and media personalities such as film directors and journalists from India to conduct training programmes for the students and he expressed his interest in the donation of books related to media and communication to the departments’ library.
Prof.S.Raguram, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Ms.S.Poongulaly, Head of the Department, Mr.Jude Dinesh Koduthor, Senior Lecturer, Ms.G.Anutharsi, Lecturer and other support staff of the Department and Students of Media Studies participated in the discussion.
