The Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna proudly presents the fourth Undergraduate Research Symposium (URSA), continuing the legacy of academic excellence established by its predecessors. This symposium serves as a vital learning opportunity for undergraduate students, offering them a platform to showcase and disseminate the insights gained from their project report and dissertation. It not only highlights their academic achievements but also fosters a culture of inquiry and intellectual exchange within the university.
The upcoming fourth Undergraduate Research Symposium is scheduled for November 30th, 2024, at the Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna. This event promises to be a significant milestone in the academic journey of our undergraduates, reinforcing the faculty’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of scholars.
“Emerging Trends and Future Directions in Humanities and Social Sciences”
In an era marked by rapid change and unprecedented challenges, the humanities and social sciences play a crucial role in helping us understand and navigate the complexities of our world. The theme of this year’s undergraduate research symposium, “Emerging Trends and Future Directions in Humanities and Social Sciences” reflects the importance of critically engaging with both our past and our future.
Situated in Jaffna’s culturally rich and historically significant region, this symposium provides a unique opportunity for young scholars to explore how global and local dynamics influence and shape these academic fields. As Sri Lanka continues to rebuild and redefine its identity in the post-conflict era, the perspectives and contributions from Jaffna are particularly vital in understanding broader societal trends.
This conference invites undergraduate students to reflect on their own experiences, consider emerging trends, and envision how these will impact the future of humanities and social sciences. By fostering dialogue and encouraging innovative thinking, we aim to create a space where new ideas can emerge, contributing to the growth and development of these disciplines in Sri Lanka and beyond.
