Fine Arts (Art History and Aesthetics)

 


The Fine Arts (Art History and Aesthetics) stream in the  Department of Fine Arts enables the students to follow either visual arts related career or a more general graduate job.  With a degree in Art History and Aesthetics graduates have the foundations to work in a range of arts related jobs such as art historians, curators, art managers, heritage managers, art dealers, art teachers, art critics and art writers in galleries, museums, archives, conservation programmes, Media.

A degree from the department of Fine Arts provides the students with a number of transferable skills that can be applied to other types of professions.  These include: research skills; written and oral communication skills; visual awareness; and specialized subject knowledge in Western Indian and Sri Lankan art history and the theories of Art.
